Salacgrīva Bridge

Salacgrīva is a small seaside town on the Via Baltica, about 20 km from the Estonian border, and since November 2025 it has a new bridge over the Salaca. Twenty of our pole-top urban lights, called Reed, lean softly over it from both sides and light the way across.

With the curved poles we aimed to bring softness and movement to the crossing. Reed takes its form from the reeds that grow along coasts and riverbanks, and here the row works like a line of trees arching over a road.

Pole-top urban lighting on a road bridge is usually a technical item; on the Salaca it is what makes the crossing welcoming. The poles are fixed at the parapet edge, with each head carried out over the carriageway, so the footpath stays clear and the light lands on the traffic lane and the walkway.

Each pole is Reed-04: four Wannabe LED modules at the tip of a 6-metre curved galvanized steel pole, 8 metres in total. The stainless steel head and the pole are powder painted graphite black, and the light is 3000K. The luminaires are made to corrosion class C4, for seaside conditions where salt air reaches the steel.
