Narva Stockholm Square

Pebble is un-like's rotomoulded illuminated bench, a seat and a light in one smooth object, installed on Stockholm Square in Narva. The square, the Old Town's central public space, was redeveloped around a theme of water and fluidity, and a bench shaped like a river-worn stone fits the theme. We planned both the seating and the pedestrian lighting for the square as a single concept.

We rotomould the shell from weather-resistant polyethylene, UV-stable and impact-resistant, so the seats stay outside year-round. IP65 RGBW LEDs sit inside, controlled through the Casambi smart lighting system. Staff set the illuminated seating to warm white on an ordinary evening, or to full colour for an event.

Reed curved street lights stand around the colour-changing benches at varying heights. The staggered poles give the square rhythm and put clear light on the walking routes.

Reed’s light source is our Wannabe aluminium LED profile, behind anti-reflective tempered glass, with DALI dimming. KOKO architects drew the masterplan for the square; our pairing of street lighting and illuminated seating works within it.

Neither piece is a one-off: Pebble and Reed are both standard un-like products, specified together for the redevelopment. After dark the seats glow like stones in a riverbed under the poles’ light. See more of our illuminated furniture.
