Estonian Embassy in Berlin

For the Estonian Embassy in Berlin, we designed a lighting installation, developed as a series of interior chandeliers. Inspired by the cloudberry, a Nordic forest berry known for its golden-orange hue, the design translates a natural form into a contemporary architectural lighting object.

The chandeliers are composed of cloudberry-shaped elements in two different sizes and tonal variations. Subtle differences in colour and translucency reflect the natural variation found in berries, where no two are identical, giving the sculptural lighting installation a soft, organic character.

Each element is cast in resin and hand-polished, housing an integrated 12V LED light source. The lighting is connected through hand-formed coaxial cables, creating a floating composition while remaining visible as part of the installation. While resin is often used in simple geometric forms, we deliberately pushed the material to achieve more complex shapes with depth and irregularity

The cable system also references Estonia’s identity as a digital society. The network of wires suggests the flow of information, echoing the idea of data stored in the “cloud.” At the same time, the cloudberry concept anchors the installation in Estonia’s natural landscape, linking digital culture with physical environment through material and form.
